Services & Activities

Daytime

As the sun begins to rise things spring to life on and around Caribe Cay. While you sit enjoying your breakfast don't be surprised to see a humming bird float by in the warming bay breeze or the silhouette of a flock of pelicans as they skim the surface of the glimmering water. Let's not forget the porpoises and loggerhead sea turtles that dwell just beneath the surface of the shallows and come up to the dock for an occasional look at the human wildlife.

There is much to do during the day on the Cay to keep you busy. Sit in a lounge chair while reading a book overlooking the property, or get a little closer to the water and enjoy the sandy beach or the freshwater heated swimming pool that seems to blend in with the bay.

When you are ready to snorkel, the Cay Manager will be happy to take you out on one of the Caribe Cay boats to some of the most beautiful coral reefs remaining in the world. Grab a Hawaiian sling and try your luck at spearing a lobster or grouper for dinner. If you're a SCUBA diver be sure to bring your certification card. Certification is available through the local dive shops.

The Cay is a diver's paradise with shipwrecks and coral reefs within a few minutes boat ride. These same locations provide some of the Caribbean's best sport-fisheries. If you're an angler you will want to bring your tackle, as none is available on the Cay. Caribe Cay and North Eleuthera have what is known to be the Bahama's best bonefishing. Anglers from around the world come here to try their hand at the elusive speedster of the flats. Offshore and bottom fishing excursions for grouper, sailfish, dolphin and tuna can be arranged by the Cay Manager.

Getting around on the water is no problem, as the Cay is equipped with three transports; a 25ft. Prowler center console, a 22ft. cuddy cabin cruiser and a 17ft. Boston Whaler. Fuel is additional, and the boats are operated by the cay manager. Unaccompanied vessels are available for rent on nearby Harbour Island. Preachers Cave on Eleuthera is where William Sayles and his shipmates found refuge after their ship ran aground on the coral reef of "The Devil's Backbone" in 1647.

These caverns are an amazing sight that cannot be passed up. While you are there you can visit the secluded beaches for a private picnic.

Nighttime
After the sun sets, if you are not tired enough from your day of fun, jump onboard one of the boats for the five-minute ride to Harbour Island to take in the local nightlife.

There is a trendy nightlife for those who wish to indulge. Whether you are looking for dinner or dancing you will find what you need on Harbour Island.

Dining ranges from traditional Bahamian, like a cracked conch sandwich, to a fine Asian or Caribbean dining experience. Either way you will find something to satisfy everyone in your party. Ask the Cay Manager for a listing of restaurants when you arrive.

Once you've eaten, head over to Gusty's, a hillside bar overlooking the bay. Don't mind the sand floor, as this place is the most popular nightspot around. For more of the dancing scene, don't miss DJ "Daddy D" at Seagrapes. You can also visit the other local nightspots like J.J.'s, or Willy's Tavern.

If you want to speed things up a bit, why not take the Fast Ferry to Nassau, and visit the casinos at a resort like Atlantis. Paradise Island and Nassau are only a short 2 hours away, making for a great evening getaway.

Of course you can always choose to stay in, and make use of the state-of-the-art entertainment center. Watch television or a movie using the islands Satellite Direct TV, or choose from one of the many videos in the enormous collection on site.

Remember this vacation is for relaxing and taking it easy.

Beach Party
Ask about the Bottom Harbour beach party on Sundays. You'll have a great time dancing, eating Bahamian food and socializing with the locals.
